Essential Face Care

A healthy skin especially in the face is a must for everyone. It might not be as important to men, but it is quite the priority for us women. If you have great skin you don’t have to have too much make-up on to look beautiful. Fresh and glowing skin is one of the best assets we could be proud of. However, because of the harsh effects of today’s environment on our skin, a simple wash won’t be much help in battling acne, breakouts and premature ageing. The best way would be to follow a daily regimen to keep your skin healthy and young. So here’s the 411 on the essential face care you need to take note of.

Cleanse

After a day outside, you always feel the need to have a shower immediately once you get home. In the same manner our skin needs to be cleansed to get rid of all the dirt, dust and what-not it has gathered throughout the day. If you have make-up on use a makeup remover, don’t immediately splash water on your face. Next, you have to find a good cleanser that is best for your skin type like if you have dry skin opt for a creamy cleanser, or if you have oily skin choose a clear cleanser. After that, you only need a pea sized amount to apply on your face remember to use your middle and ring finger to avoid too much pressure on the skin thus avoiding losing its natural elasticity. Finally, rinse your face with lukewarm water to avoid broken capillaries caused by cold or hot water. Using bar soaps is a no-no for the face. You could only use bar soaps for the body. Once cleansing is done, it’s time to exfoliate.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is done to get rid of dead skin cells that make the face appear older. It takes away black heads, white heads, blemishes and makes your skin softer and younger looking. The best way to exfoliate is to use a facial scrub. Scrubs have micro beads that gently remove the dead skin and unclog pores. You must make sure that the scrubs you own have micro beads because products that have larger beads or grains could tear your skin. Exfoliation may also be done once a week by using a microdermabrasion kit. A one-time method for exfoliation is a chemical peel; this can take years off your face. Chemical peels are a bit pricey so you could also purchase an over the counter peel product, just make sure you check the label. After exfoliation, it is up to you if you want to use a toner, this makes your pores smaller.

Moisturize
Moisturizing is a key element to keep your skin hydrated. This is recommended for everyone regardless if you have oily skin. However, if you have acne problems you should consult a dermatologist before applying anything on your face. If you have tight and dry skin, you need moisturizing, STAT! Nevertheless remember to avoid over moisturizing because this could clog your pores. It’s always best to moisturize especially during the extreme weather (hot/cold). It is also beneficial to use eye creams to reduce puffiness and to make the skin under the eyes stronger and healthier.

Sunscreen
Nobody wants an uneven skin tone. It happens to everyone, one part of your face is slightly darker than another. To avoid this and premature ageing apply sunscreen. There are several moisturizers that already come with sunscreens; however they are not advisable for night use.

So always remember that a healthy skin regimen could suit you in the long run. Proper skin treatment today avoids wrinkles tomorrow.
